About ear candling

A little bit about the theory behind ear candling...

Ear candling is a complementary therapy that gently stimulates the ear and sinus areas to relieve pressure and discomfort and assists with relaxation and well being.

We believe that the healing properties of the ear candle has its foundation in two actions: the slight under–pressure (the chimney effect) inside the ear candle, and the vibration of the rising air column. These two actions serve to gently massage the ear drum and promote secretion in the frontal and paranasal sinuses; with the well reported effect of regulating and balancing ear pressure. Users often describe a soothing, light sensation in the ear and head area. The locally applied warmth can stimulate vascularization, invigorate the immune system and reinforce the flow of lymph. At the same time, important acupuncture points and reflex zones are stimulated.

The effect after treatment is a soothing, pressure and pain relieving sensation, mainly in the ear and head regions. The treatments encourage clearer nasal breathing and an improved sense of smell (even when the nose was blocked before treatment). A wonderful relaxed feeling, a deep sense of security and a feeling of happiness are often reported after treatment. These benefits have been well documented by the team at Jill Fraser during fifteen years of experience.
